About Us

Busting with Energy™ is a dragon boat team made up entirely of breast cancer survivors,women of all ages - mothers, grandmothers, sisters, daughters and friends. Our team is committed to promoting a healthy lifestyle through dragon boat racing and to providing women with reassurance that there is life after breast cancer...and it can be active, challenging and fun.

We start circuit training at Bourassa and Associates early in the year to build upper body strength and overall conditioning. River practices in the dragon boat begin in May. We practice rain or shine, with our coach Dr. Rhona Shaw, twice per week.

2010:  Busting with Energy™ races in Peterborough, Saskatoon and Regina.

2009:  Busting with Energy™ races in Saskatoon, Lethbridge and Regina. Wins silver, gold and twice has the best team cheer

2008:  Busting with Energy™ races in Saskatoon  and Halifax on the same weekend. In May Busting with Energy celebrates 10 years with a members reunion. October-Team enters Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation CIBC Run for the Cure and raises the most money for a Women's team in Saskatoon.

September 2^nd
SaskEnergy Regina Dragonboat Festival:  Busting with Energy™ took 2^nd place in all heats, and in the final race finished 4^th out of 9 teams.

Past Races:

June 2005: Busting with Energy™, thanks to our sponsors and supporters, attended the 10 Years Abreast celebration in Vancouver. The Vancouver team "Abreast in a Boat" hosted this weekend of dragon boat races with 62 teams from all over the world to celebrate the 10 years that breast cancer survivors have been dragon boating. We were excited to meet so many women just like us from all over the world. We raced against teams from Australia, New Zealand, Poland, Rome, and numerous teams from the United States and Canada. What a weekend! We will never forget the memories of that incredible weekend with over 1500 women in pink.

July 2004: Busting with Energy™ hosted "Breast Friends" from Edmonton and "Sistership" from Calgary at our local dragon boat festival.
